About Us

Founded by June Summerill and Bernadette Bishop, two great friends with a truly effortless and unique sense of style, Summerill & Bishop first opened its doors on 18th May, 1994 in Holland Park, and has remained on the same quiet, leafy corner of Clarendon Cross ever since.

Fantastic home cooks and entertainers both, June and Bernadette were frustrated with the offerings at most kitchen and tableware shops at the time, and with the lack of personality and intimacy, so they decided to create one of their own, where beauty and functionality would both be key.

To commemorate Bernadette's passing, S&B trademarked her signature flower design and designed a beautiful line of linens which launched in Sept 2015. And that is how S&B decided to focus on table linen - the fabric of life.

At Summerill & Bishop we believe that if people take the time to lay the table and present a meal beautifully, they'll enjoy it all the more and create a lasting memory for those who share it with them.

For us, laying the table is an art form that we can all master at home and is one of the simplest ways to tell someone what they mean to you. The table isn't just a place to pass food, you pass tradition, memory, and love, too. Read our full story here...

The story

Trudon is the oldest candlemaker in the world. Founded by the Trudon family, it has provided candles to France’s cathedrals and nobility since 1643. Most famously, the Trudons supplied all the candles of Versailles on a daily basis, serving the Sun King, Louis XIV, during his reign. Lighting up the hallways and boudoirs of the monarchy, Trudon’s flames flickered in both Versailles and the Imperial Court during Napoleon’s reign. Thanks to the Sun King, this candle company managed to survive not only the French Revolution, but also the miracle of electricity and is still around today. The Paris-based brand maintains a serious cult following of A-listers and designers and is the epitome of luxury when it comes to candles, fragrance and giftware.
